I didn't see a change in my character face either. Hopefully we'll see some additional updates (or evidence from others that progress was made).
I want to stress that I am quite pleased with the response we've heard from ANet and their representatives on this issue. I'm patient to see how this will play out in the coming weeks.

Sorry for the double post (sort of) but my guild leader just complained that her mesmer now (post update) looks like a dork. Guess ANet didn't fix it...

Ahh poor Aeris. You have my condolenses! However you spell that word.
Did this only happen to Tyrian faces? Because most of my girl characters are canthan faced and nothing happened to them. Also my monk looks like he has eyeliner on, it's good for me though.

The faces were not built to have anthing moveable other than the eyes. The faces had to be rebuilt and weighted to takemore facial animations, and the older face shapes, since they originally weren't made with facial animations in mind, probably wouldn't have taken the animations well. The new faces were built with animations in mind, and so might look a bit different, as well as the new shadowing giving some bad looks to the faces. The changes aren't huge, personally I can't see much difference at all on alot of them, though some are downright hideous with the new lighting.

Anyway, I would apreciate it very much if this was fixed, which im sure will, and I do apreciate the fact that the artists are monitoring reports on this thread.
Keep up the good work.
And if this takes time to be fixed we can wait, after all ive been waiting for 15 months(when i made this character).

Amen. I sure as hell hope it's solves soon. I've been just about smacking my head on my desk trying to find armor to cover it up, but since knight's armor got nerfed to near-uselessness (in PvE, at least), there's been nothing, except ugly and expensive obsidian armor. It would be REALLY NICE if this issue, which has always been a problem, I assume for tens of thousands of customers, would be solved.
I don't want to sound obnoxious (I'm legally disabled... one part of that is that I can sometimes be a total ass and not be aware of it until someone points it out.... making me feel horrible ) but I think this particular fix is LOOOOONG overdue and I am still eagerly waiting for it. My fingers are crossed...

Seconding the poor werewolf girl from near the start of the thread, that particular ranger face has been hit hard.
Just before retail, I was once a beauty.

My character's mostly missed the bad messups, but this is my take:
Monk: no longer the carefree 'Dwayna will take care of everything' healer, now a serious disciple of life force.
Ele: no longer an elvish princess, looks like a pekingnese (sp?) face all smashed in.
Rit: looks like my old GF, no longer the buxom tease, now just an over worked mouth
Storage War: gone is the twinkle and smile that showed she enjoyed bashing your head in, looks like she stubbed her toe now.
Main War: used to look like me, now looks like a cross between Vinny Barberino and a RL frd of mine that went psychotic. At over 2100 hours on this character, this one pains me the most, the last thing I want to reminded of when I'm playing is a RL frd who would've gotten along with the Columbine guys.
None of this is quantifiable in any way, but the character of my characters has changed.
I don't believe A-net can give me back those things that have changed without scrapping the whole lip-sync thing, and thats ok, if they give us the option to re-select what we want our character to look like.

Left, Sept 14th Update: No apparent change in facial features/make-up, though I'd imagine she's a bit pissed part of her head is detached from her neck.
Right, Sept 15th Update: Neck and head sewn back together, but wait... runny mascara? Possibly the result of the painful surgical procedure rendered by the last update?
TBH, it's only apparent in certain lighting situations. Oft seen when facing direct light source and not so much away. Looking away she looks pretty much the same as before, just... fuller? Added polys/vertices are my guess.
Either way, thanks for giving my neck back anet. All I know is Nightfall better introduce hair stylists. My necros hair is ~17 months stale. :(

Might as well bring Anet's attention to one of the male monk hair style. (the long hair one from cathan) there happens to be a bald spot when you zoom out and its driving me crazy.
fix this and i promise i will buy nightfall.

Hrrm alright, if I turn -away- from the light in LA, suddenly I look pretty alright again. So as long as I can go through the rest of the game not looking at any light sources I'm set! :P
At retail, facing the light in Zen Daijun or some place, facing away from the light in LA.
